In the midst of it all, you might stop to think about things and start to wonder what people will think of you when you die. How long will you be remembered? What will you be remembered for?
You may have never considered these things (if you haven’t, now is the time!), but odds are, you’re here for more than just the day-to-day routine. Everyone wants to be remembered for something, whether it’s the way they taught others about a topic, a novel idea they implemented, a book they wrote, or simply a trait they inspired in others. This is essentially what makes life worth living. Whatever impact someone sets out to make, the key is that it is lasting. It’s worth remembering. Most things in our lives are transient – the people we meet, the places we go, the paths we cross – we experience them and they’re gone. Forgotten. Don’t be another one of those. Discover your impact and make it stick.
If you’re wondering how you’ll make an impact, the answer lies in choosing what is most lasting – the thing you are most passionate about and most likely to pursue in the long run. Start by making a list of your top 5-10 interests/goals – the things you are most focused on pursuing and achieving. Then go back through and being completely honest with yourself, cross out the things that may not last, leaving only the things you can’t imagine ever losing interest in – the answer may surprise you.
